Pianiste colombien, né à Cartagena en 1982, Daniel commence ses études de piano à 9 ans avec les professeurs Liliana Hernández et Mauricio Villa. En 2005 il reçoit le baccalauréat avec mention honorifique de « Musicien Pianiste » de l'Université Los Andes, à Bogotá, sous la direction des professeurs Ignacio Pacheco et Antonio Carbonell. En 2009 il finit sa maîtrise en interprétation en piano à L'Université de Montréal, sous la direction de Paul Stewart. Il es aussi diplômé au Doctorat en interprétation piano de l'Université de Montréal, sous la tutelle de Paul Stewart et Lorraine Vaillancourt.

Il a été sélectionné pour le cycle de concerts de la Banque de la République Colombienne en 2002. Lauréat du Premier Prix du troisième Concours International de Piano Maria Clara Cullell, à San José de Costa Rica en 2004, il a aussi gagné en 2005 la mention d'honneur au Concours National de Piano de l'Université Industrielle de Santander, en Colombie. Sa carrière de pianiste concertiste l’a amené à se produire en Colombie, au Costa Rica, en Uruguay, en Argentine, au Chili ainsi qu’au Canada.

Daniel se spécialise dans le répertoire contemporain. Il fait partie de l'Ensemble CG à Bogotá, et des ensembles Allogène et La Machine à Montréal. Il a participé aux créations d’œuvres des compositeurs colombiens Rodolfo Acosta R., Daniel Leguizamón, Felipe Neira, Camilo A. Méndez et Ana María Romano et des compositeurs québécois Émilie Girard-Charest, André Hamel, Adam Basanta, et Michael Larocque, entre autres. Il se spécialise en répertoire Latino-américain.

Biography

Colombian pianist born in Cartagena, Colombia, 1982, Daniel Áñez started his piano studies at 9 with teachers Liliana Hernández and Mauricio Villa. In 2005 he received his Musician Pianist with Honors undergraduate diploma from the Los Andes University, Bogota, where he studied with Cuban teachers Ignacio Pacheco and Antonio Carbonell. In 2009 he finished his Master's Degree in piano performance at the University of Montreal, where he studied with Paul Stewart. He’s also a doctorate piano graduate from the University of Montreal, where he studied with Paul Stewart and Lorraine Vaillancourt.

He was selected for the Cycle of Concerts for Young Performers in 2002 by the Bank of the Republic of Colombia. He won the first prize in the 3rd « Maria Clara Cullell » International Piano Competition in San José, Costa Rica, in 2004. In 2005 he won an Honorary Diploma in the National Piano Competition in the Industrial University of Santander, Bucaramanga, Colombia. As a concert pianist, he has played solo recitals in Colombia, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Argentina and Canada.

Daniel Áñez specializes in contemporary repertoire. He is part of « Ensemble CG » in Bogota, as well as Ensemble Allogène, Ensemble La Machine, Wapiti and Ciao Rhino in Montreal. He has participated in the premiere of works by Colombian composers Rodolfo Acosta R., Daniel Leguizamón, Camilo Méndez, and Ana María Romano, as well as premieres by Canadian composers André Hamel, Adam Basanta, Cassandra Miller and Michael Larocque, amongst others. He specializes in Latin-American repertoire.
