Teaching Statement
My mission is to help people develop their own distinctive style and 'feel' for their instruments. I put a strong emphasis on the learner's interests and passions, and being well-versed in many styles and genres I am confident that I can meet the individual needs of any learner. I believe that there is something unique about every musician, and that it is my job is to help foster and encourage those elements as much as possible. A feel for the groove, technical prowess, and an ear for melody are examples of things that can be identified and developed. As a songwriter, I am also able to support learning in composition and musical creativity. My philosophy is dedication to working with each musician exactly where her or she is at.
Biography
I possess more than 15 years of progressive experience in the music field as an accomplished singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and studio engineer and have worked with countless musicians both in the studio and on stage. With this experience I can teach drums, electric guitar, acoustic guitar and bass guitar in a variety of styles and genres.
Recent experience in the music field includes composing a score for an award winning short film, as well as planning, editing and directing a music video for award winning songwriter Kim June Johnson.
The popular music site Indie Rock Cafe called me 'one of the best one-man bands we've heard in awhile.'
